Paver Patios, Walkways, & Driveways
Paver patios, walkways, and driveways are among the most durable and versatile outdoor surfaces available when they are designed and installed correctly. Rooted handles the full process from the initial 3-D design through installation, using Belgard materials and CMHA-certified installation practices.

One Standard Across Every Square Foot
Paver patios, walkways, and driveways each serve a different purpose on your property, but they share the same requirement: proper design, proper base preparation, and proper installation.
A patio needs to accommodate how you entertain and relax outside. A walkway needs to be safe, functional, and visually connected to the rest of the property. A driveway needs to handle vehicle traffic, weather, and years of use without shifting or cracking.
Belgard offers a full range of paver products suited to all three applications, and Rooted installs each one to the same CMHA-certified standard regardless of scope or budget.

An Informational Guide to Paver Patios, Walkways, & Driveways
Pavers are one of the most durable and visually flexible hardscape options available, but the finished surface is only as good as what is underneath it. Understanding how a paver installation actually works helps you ask better questions and recognize quality work when you see it.
The base is the whole project. The pavers are the last thing that goes down. Before a single stone is placed, the ground has to be excavated, filled with compactable gravel, and compacted in layers. Skipping depth or compaction is the most common reason paver surfaces develop dips, separations, and trip hazards within a few years.
Joint sand matters. Once pavers are set, the joints are filled with polymeric sand, which hardens when activated with water and locks the surface together. It prevents shifting, resists weed growth, and keeps the surface stable over time. Standard sand without a binding agent breaks down quickly.
Slope and drainage are designed in. A paver surface needs a slight pitch away from your home toward an appropriate drainage point. Where water goes when it leaves the surface matters as much as the surface itself.
Pattern affects more than aesthetics. Herringbone distributes load more evenly across the surface, which is why it is a common choice for driveways. The pattern you choose should be informed by how the surface will be used.
Material options. Concrete pavers come in a wide range of profiles, textures, and colors. Natural stone options including bluestone, travertine, and granite each carry their own maintenance and performance characteristics. Rooted helps you match the material to the use, the climate, and the overall design of your space.
The Surface Is Only as Good as What Is Under It
A paver patio or driveway can look identical on day one whether the base was done correctly or cut short. The difference shows up two or three winters later when the surface starts to dip, separate, or rock underfoot. By then the only real fix is pulling it up and starting over.Rooted builds every paver surface from the ground up, with excavation depth, base compaction, drainage slope, and edge restraints treated as the actual project rather than steps to get through before the pavers go down.
As a Belgard Authorized contractor and CMHA-certified installer, we follow installation standards that account for Georgia's clay soils, heavy rain seasons, and freeze cycles so the finished surface holds up the way it should for the long term. The pavers are the part you see. The base is the part that makes them last.

FAQs
We install concrete pavers, brick pavers, natural stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Each has its own strengths. Concrete is versatile and cost-effective with a wide range of color and style options. Brick brings a classic, timeless character. Natural stone offers a premium, one-of-a-kind look that holds up exceptionally well over time. Permeable pavers are worth considering if drainage or stormwater management is a priority on your property. We help you identify the right fit based on how the space will be used, what it needs to look like, and what makes sense for your budget.
The finished surface is only as good as what's underneath it. Installation starts with excavating to the right depth, then building a compacted gravel base that supports the pavers and prevents shifting over time. From there, we level, lay, and set the pavers before finishing with joint sand to lock everything in place. Edge restraints are also installed to keep the perimeter from spreading. Skipping or rushing any of these steps is where paver projects fail years down the road.
We design every installation with grading and drainage in mind from the start. For most projects, that means sloping the surface to direct runoff away from structures and incorporating gravel layers beneath the base. In areas with heavy clay soil or significant rainfall, we may also use perforated drainage pipe. If runoff is a broader concern on your property, permeable pavers are an option that allows water to drain directly through the surface.
Weed growth is one of the most common concerns, and the best defense is what goes between the pavers during installation. We use polymeric sand in the joints, which hardens when activated and significantly reduces weed penetration compared to regular sand. No joint sand is completely weed-proof long term, but polymeric sand paired with routine cleaning keeps growth manageable. Sealing the pavers after installation adds another layer of protection.
A properly installed paver surface can last 30 years or more. The material itself is highly durable, and one of the practical advantages of pavers over poured concrete is that individual pieces can be replaced if one cracks or shifts without disturbing the whole surface. Ongoing maintenance is straightforward: periodic cleaning, re-sanding joints as needed, and sealing if you want added protection against staining and fading. We also offer maintenance services to address any settling that develops over time.

Consultation
We Come to You
We visit your property for a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. We look at the space, talk through your vision, and assess what is actually possible given your yard, slope, drainage, and budget.
Most homeowners have a rough idea of what they want but are not sure what is realistic. This conversation usually clarifies a lot and sets the project up for success from the start.
3-D Design & Proposal
See It Before We Build It
We use professional 3-D rendering software to produce a detailed visual of your finished project. You will see exactly where the patio sits, how the wall is terraced, where the fire pit lands, and what materials will be used. Multiple material and color options are shown side by side, and revisions are included until you are fully satisfied with the design.
Once the design is approved, we provide a detailed written proposal with itemized pricing. As a Belgard Authorized Contractor, we source premium materials directly and walk you through the full product line to select your paver style, color, and finish.

Site Prep and Build
Built Right From the Ground Up
This is where most cheap hardscaping jobs cut corners. Proper excavation, grading, and base compaction are what separate a patio that holds up for thirty years from one that shifts and sinks in five. Our CMHA-certified crews are trained to do this step correctly every time, with drainage addressed before any surface work begins.
The Rooted installation team then builds your project to the approved 3-D design. Jerry stays involved throughout and is reachable directly if you have questions. The site is kept clean and organized from start to finish, and the crew shows up on time and works a full day.
